The TGCm Weekly RunUp

Welcome back to ThinkGrowCryptoMedia! Your Cardano-biased, news media outlet for your blockchain-knowledge needs.

The Cardano Era has officially begun!

Cardano's pioneer, Professor Philip Wadler, has been recognized for his groundbreaking work in computer languages and Haskell design.

He is set to join the esteemed ranks of previous scientific legends, such as Newton, by becoming a fellow of the Royal Society, the oldest scientific academy globally.

His contributions have left a lasting impact on the field, and his remarkable career continues to inspire many in the Cardano community.

Bravo, Professor Wadler! 👏

Also of note, Cardano’s NFT market is buzzing with activity. Despite talks of a bear market, our NFT market is outperforming the overall NFT market by a significant margin, from various metrics.

What does this mean? More people are trading NFTs on Cardano than on many other platforms.

Ok, let’s get into it 👇

 📊 Cardano Ecosystem Stats

🚀 Cardano Headlines

Mithril, a stake-based signature scheme and protocol, is set to supercharge the Cardano ecosystem.

Its primary role is to enhance the speed and efficiency of syncing times for nodes, making Cardano more robust and versatile.

The journey of Mithril started with a proof of concept in August 2022. By December, the team had officially unveiled Mithril, highlighting its potential benefits and applications.

As we approach summer, Mithril is in the final stages of testing before its mainnet release.

This new protocol isn’t just about speed: it's a catalyst for the future of Cardano.

As it evolves, Mithril will unlock new opportunities for dApp developers, help to streamline sidechain operations, and simplify decentralized decision-making.

The ultimate goal? To create a fully decentralized and self-sustaining ecosystem.

In essence, Mithril is set to usher in a new era for Cardano, enhancing efficiency, security, and decentralization.

You can dive deeper into Mithril's transformative capabilities here.

💸 Blockchain Headlines

Worldcoin, another one of OpenAI-CEO Sam Altman’s projects, has finally hit the public markets (except for the US due to lack of regulatory clarity). It’s been making quite the buzz, and for good reason.

This new cryptocurrency utilizes biometric information in the form of retina-scans to create what they’re calling a “privacy-preserving digital identity”…but just how true is this in reality?

Yes, the ZK-rollups that underpin the protocol are sound (see below).

But so far, Worldcoin has kept the designs of its orb, the hardware responsible for scanning individual retinas, proprietary. This means that no one knows what the orb is doing behind the scenes.

Worldcoin says that it will open source the plans to these orbs eventually. But until then, it’s all too easy to see this whole thing turn into a real-life episode of Black Mirror.

Stay safe out there, folks.
